Nuella Njubigbo set to unveil boutique in Lagos

SULTRY actress, Nuella Njubigbo-Chikere is set to join the growing list of actresses who have delved into business in recent times as she launches her mind-blowing, African-inspired online boutique called NuellAfrika, in Lagos. The actress announced the opening of  the boutique, on WhatsApp, saying  “I’m  launching my African online fashion brand.” Nuella, who got married to her heartthrob, Tchidi Chikere two years ago is excited and looking forward to the grand opening of the multi-million naira boutique, which holds at Nicon Hotel, Victoria Garden City, Lekki, this weekend. Other actresses who own boutiques, spas and salons in Lagos include,  Iyabo Ojo who runs a spa, Bisi Ibidapo-Obe who has a sex toy store, Chika Ike, Doris Simeon, Bukky Wright, and Toyin Aimakhu-Johnson and  Mercy Aigbe among others.

Kogi Amala meal: Death toll rises to 9, hospital suspects cynide poison

A 42-year-old woman and a boy, 10, who also ate the 'poisoned' cassava flour meal in Ogaminana area of Okene in Kogi, died on Thursday, November 3rd, at the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, while the third victim is in critical condition. LIB recalls that a woman, her three children and her neighbours's two kids died between Monday, Oct. 31 and Tuesday,Nov. 1, after eating a meal of cassava flour.  The woman brought the cassava from her farmland at Ohuepe village, which she used to prepare dinner for her family and gave some of the food to her neighbour. The victims developed severe stomach pains hours later and died. The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Olatunde Alabi told newsmen that three victims of the cassava flour meal were rushed to the hospital in critical condition on Wednesday morning from Ogaminana, Adavi Local Government Area, but two of them died Thursday morning. The EFCC, has arraigned Pastor Nimi West and his company, Nimak & Company Nigeria Limited before Justice U.N. Agumoh of the Federal High Court Port Harcourt, Rivers State on a four- count charge of obtaining money under false pretence to the tune of Twenty-Two Million, Four Hundred Thousand Naira (N22,400,000.00).   West is alleged to have received the said amount from one Emmanuel Dike at different times in 2013 for payment of a bungalo w at D/Line, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. However, the complainant later discovered that the property had been sold to another person while his efforts to recover his money did not succeed. The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge when read to him. In view of his plea, the prosecution counsel, C.A.Okoli applied for a date for the commencement of trial while the defence counsel C.B.Osita made an oral application for bail of the accused to enable him attend to his health. NNPC increases fuel price by N4/litre at its mega stations

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), has increased the pump price of petrol by N4 at its mega stations, thereby changing the price from its initial N141 to N145, per litre. NNPC prices have been N141 in the last few months until on Tuesday Nov. 2, when it was raised to N145. Reacting to this, spokesman for the NNPC, Garba Deen Muhammad, told Daily Trust; "there was no rule that compels any marketer including the NNPC to sell at a particular price. A price regime was introduced between N135 and N145. So, you can sell anywhere within that range. What you are seeing is interplay of market forces."

Eden Hazard has been named the PFA’s Premier League Player of the Month for October following his upturn in form under Antonio Conte. The Blues playmaker struck three goals and claimed an assist in four appearances during the month, lifting the Stamford Bridge club to fourth in the Premier League table. Hazard passed his personal tally from last season when he scored his fifth goal of the campaign against Southampton on Sunday. Hazard won 27,262 votes in the poll by Sky Sports, with Arsenal’s Theo Walcott coming in second with 14,737. 11 super cars worth over N3bn belonging to Vice president of Equatorial Guinea seized by Swiss authorities

Teodorin Obiang Nguema, the vice president and son of the President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo has seen over N3billion worth of his 11 super cars seized by Prosecutors in Switzerland who are presently investigating him for money laundering. According to Francois Pilet, an investigative journalist with L’Hebdo, he confirmed the seizure of the vehicles, which includes a Porche, Ferrari, Bugatti Veyron and others took place in Geneva on Monday October 31, 2016, where he was accused of plundering his country's oil wealth to buy luxuries, including a private jet and Michael Jackson memorabilia. Report also has it that the Vice President whose assets will also be seized will appear in court next year in France on similar charges.

Good News! Buhari Set To Increase Minimum Wage

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari might increase the minimum wage of Nigerian workers as the Federal Government delegation will meet with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) over deliberation on the issue. According to a report by Daily Times, the meeting which will initiate modalities that will guide negotiations for the new N56,000 minimum wage, proposed by the Worker Union. The NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, confirming the proposed talks scheduled for today, described the renewed negotiation, as a step in the right direction. “We have submitted that demand. It is not Beyonce! Forbes Magazine has announced the highest paid female musician in 2016 who earned $170 million this year. With earnings of $170 million, pop singer Taylor Swift was 2016’s highest-paid woman in music, Forbes magazine said on Wednesday. Swift, 26, smashed the Rolling Stones’ North American touring record, pulling in a total of more than $200 million on the North American portion of her “1989” world tour. Last year, the “Bad Blood” singer came in second to Katy Perry with an estimated $80 million. Swift was honored with the first-ever “Taylor Swift Award” at the BMI Pop Awards in May, quipping that she “would be kind of bummed” if the award had gone to someone else.
