Arsene Wenger running out of excuses at Arsenal as same problems arise

Battle of the Weekend: Arsenal vs. Sunderland
Arsenal fans are experiencing an all-too familiar queasiness as around the roundabout they go. Arsene Wenger's side are again ravaged by injuries to key players just when the Premier League title looked achievable and the French coach is once more shaking hands with his old friend deja vu.
In a very poor performance that ended 1-1 at Norwich, their best centre-back Laurent Koscielny looked as if he could barely walk, vital central midfielder Santi Cazorla finished the game "on one leg" and talisman Alexis Sanchez limped off holding his hamstring just days after Wenger admitted the Chilean had a "hamstring alarm."
This was a costly point away from home that left the Gunners without a win in their last three Premier League matches. In fact, Arsenal have won only twice in their last seven games across all competitions. Even factoring in their ridiculously long injury list, this is unacceptable form. They're fourth in the table, which suggests it isn't all bad. But that Arsenal are only two points off the Premier League leaders is down to the failings of others rather than the North London side showing any real staying power in the title race. And considering the fixture congestion on the horizon, the trouble is that things are likely to get worse before they get better -- usually around spring time.
Even if Wenger has no proper solutions to why his players get injured so often and for so long -- although you'd hope that after 19 years in charge, matters would be improving -- then at least he could have prepared for this scenario. Goodness knows you didn't need to be a professor to see this current mess coming. Wenger has previously bemoaned the January transfer window, making it all the more puzzling why he did not sign an outfield player during the summer window. Goalkeeper Petr Cech was an overdue addition but that no defensive midfielder or Centre-forward arrived left some Arsenal supporters angry, but probably not surprised.
